Commentary In Favor Of Books Krakatit

Krakatit is a novel on the risks about the abuse of science for human gain. The hero is a chemist Mr. Prokop, who was able to produce exceptionally powerful explosive. He calls it "Krakatit," after the Indonesian volcano Krakatoa. A special feature of Krakatit is that erupts seemingly without cause. After an accident in the laboratory an exhausted Prokop tumbles into Prague when he meets Tomes, who takes him into his care.

Met veel plezier en bewondering heb ik zojuist "Krakatiet" uitgelezen, een vergeten klassieker uit 1924 van de geniale Karel Capek (1890-1938). Ik vond het geloof ik nog mooier dan "Oorlog met de salamanders", en het is typisch zo'n boek waardoor mijn leesjaar (2016) meteen al geslaagd is, zelfs als ik vanaf nu alleen maar de Donald Duck te lezen krijg.Het onnavolgbaar grillige en groteske verhaal wordt in beweging gezet door de maffe scheikundig ingenieur Prokop, die een alles verwoestende

Pentru cine l-a mai citit pe Capek, începutul îi este caracteristic: aceeaşi aura ştiinţifică, personaje de asemenea natură şi abruptul firului epic. Pe de altă parte, romanul de faţă iese din tiparele autorului: personajul principal, Prokop, trece prin cinci planuri, primele patru constituindu-se şi bazându-se pe analiza personajului în diferite ipostaze. Capek escribe muy bien, no es un autor de género, así que la krakatita ocupa un segundo plano en las aventuras del protagonista. A pesar de sufrir en sus carnes los efectos de explosiones accidentales lo que más sufre es su corazón enamoradizo que va saltando de mujer a mujer (con bastante éxito, todo hay que decirlo) a pesar de ser el prototipo de sabio despistado.

In high school, they tell you how this book is about internal struggle and how the abuse of scientific advances can put the world peace at risk. Hogwash. I wonder whether my lit teacher has actually read this. This is a story of a delusional inventor, who has nothing better to do than to walk around, be an ass to everyone and feel like a martyr. Much like Holden or Botchan, but boring and making even less sense than two those morons. I seriously can't relate to a single character in this book
