Commentary Concering Books 1Q84 #1-2 (1Q84 #1-2)

The year is 1984 and the city is Tokyo.

A young woman named Aomame follows a taxi driver’s enigmatic suggestion and begins to notice puzzling discrepancies in the world around her. She has entered, she realizes, a parallel existence, which she calls 1Q84 —“Q is for ‘question mark.’ A world that bears a question.” Meanwhile, an aspiring writer named Tengo takes on a suspect ghostwriting project. He becomes so wrapped up with the work and its unusual author that, soon, his previously placid life begins to come unraveled.

A love story, a mystery, a fantasy, a novel of self-discovery, a dystopia to rival George Orwell’s—1Q84 is Haruki Murakami’s most ambitious undertaking yet: an instant best seller in his native Japan, and a tremendous feat of imagination from one of our most revered contemporary writers

Commentary About Books 1Q84 #1-2 (1Q84 #1-2)
Murakami's mesmerising prose made for compulsive listening. The two central characters' stories are told in alternating chapters and I found having these narrated by two different voices very effective. Another reviewer described 1Q84 as a book containing moments of great clarity... I found this to be true... Moments where I would want to pause and say... Oh yes... That's exactly it... But then the moment falls away and you are no longer sure of what it was you discovered, except that somehow

{Notice: Ive only read Parts 1 and 2 as the Spanish edition is divided that way and Part 3 is edited as another book}If you can't understand it without an explanation, you can't understand it with an explanation. It's the first and only Murakami book that I didnt like. And I dont know how to deal with it. I'm confused because hes always been my favourite author and except for the essay What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, I've always finished all his books. And I ended up loving the

I'm sad to report that I didn't so much love this book. I didn't hate it but felt gypped a bit, and I guess that comes from all the hoop-la. I am however proud that I can now boast that I can read a 900 page book. This also means I don't have an excuse not to finish up Ulysses. Nuts. Anywhoooo, I'm going to be direct and list what I didn't love:1. TOO LONG. This might be a given, but after finishing all 900 pages I can safely say that he could have cut it by half. Did anything even happen in the

So, I have read this book two years ago. And I didnt remember it at all. So Ive read it again and right at the beginning I remembered reading it, although I forgot most of the plot.My new reading experience was way better, its a long story, Aomame and Tengo are special characters and I cant wait to continue the story

it's hard for me to have a definite opinion on this book as i still have to read the third part but this was worth a 5 stars, what a surreal and fun book! i hope all of the remaining questions find answers in the last part though

I've been on the Murakami bandwagon since a friend introduced me to the Wind-Up Bird, but I am now officially getting off.The core idea has so much potential, but it drowns - screaming - in a sea of inept, boring, repetitive language. I was literally scratching my head wondering how this book escaped a ruthless editing. There is no justification - other than author laziness and/or vanity - for this book to be so damn long. I was so surprised at the mediocrity of the prose that I kept wondering

Classic Murakami. I have read most of his collection and consider myself a keen fan of his writing. This epic is a touch above most though, it's part thriller, part love story and easily draws you into classic Murakami surrealism. Not to mention a 100% page turner. I've dived straight into the 3rd book in this trilogy without drawing breath.
