Appraise About Books Perahu Kertas
(Kindle)A sweet story about Kugi and Keenan, one a story teller and one a painter. Their path to becoming a couple is complicated. The childlike hope of telling fairy tales and painting for a living clash with a reality to have a career, a job and a paycheck. The transition from childhood to adulthood while maintaining childlike creativity, joy and hope is a bumpy struggle.Conflict happens when parental expectations, assumptions and well-meaning friends complicate things further. The main

AmazingLook, this book is too good to pass up. It took a slow start but before I knew it, I'd been sucked into the vortex of heartfelt fiction! The characters are relatable, lovable, and cute. And the conflicts struck me as if I were caught in the middle myself. It all made for a beautiful ending, one that helped me finish the final page with a content smile. Wonderful story progression and character relationship unfoldings. I really do not want to spoil the book for anyone so that's all I'll

If this wasn't translated I would give this book 2 stars, but I think a lot of Dee Lestari's writing lost its style through translation. I liked the ever present art theme throughout the story, and how the main characters interacted together. I thought the banter between the friends was very realistic. Unfortunately, besides our main character, Kugy, the characters were flat, especially the men and Keenan's love interests. There is a part towards the end that is infuriating! Both characters

I picked this up through one of those $2 credits on select books if you subscribe to some Amazon list and didn't expect much from it. I am so glad I picked it up. It is a different take on the romance genre, at least for me - someone who doesn't typically read romance. It is well written and feels authentic, though it's not a depiction of a dating culture I'm familar with. This is a light, warm, beach read for a bright little pick-me-up, which is exactly what I was looking for. Koogi and Keenan

This was a sweet but frustrating story of two people who should be together. I liked the characters and how everything came together in the end but I feel like much of what happened could have been avoided if the main characters were honest with their feelings upfront. Regardless, it was a fun read.I thought the writing was a little choppy sometimes and something was a little off - like maybe it was a translation. Then I realized it probably was a translation (duh). After realizing this, I

This was a lovely novel about love, loss, and finally coming to grips with reality. It took me longer than usual to finish, however, when I realized that Kugy and Keenan's story was going to be dragged through months and years of their trying to deny their love for each other, for no apparent reason. The story was beautiful, but it just didn't feel realistic in why they kept dancing around their love and pulling others into their worlds, just to disappoint them in the end. I truly felt bad for

Disclosure: I would like to thank Goodreads and Amazon for the copy of Paper Boats by Dee Lestari (translated by Tiffany Tsao).I gave this book 3 stars out of 5, which according to the goodreads scale means: I liked it! This was an enjoyable book to read, but not life changing. The characters are believable and their life stories and adventures, though complex, are believable. It is actually refreshing to read a romance novel where the characters go through multiple realistic problems. My
