Commentary Supposing Books Psalms (Bible #19)

Okay, so I'll be honest, I didn't actually read every single Psalm, but selected the ones that seemed most appealing. Psalms does bring back a strong childhood memory for me though. While I was going to church, the lady who taught us children separately from the adults part way through the church service, got all us children who were old enough, to learn Psalms 23 (The Lord Our Shepherd) off by heart. Once we felt ready, we each had to stand up and say it out loud to the rest of the church goers. I remember being so nervous, as I was very shy, but also proud of myself for facing my own fear and achieving it.

Comment On Based On Books Psalms (Bible #19)
I don't know if it was because this was just longer or if it was because it didn't have like a "storyline" to really follow since they were all praises and laments...but it took so long for me to get through this one! I distinctly recall liking Psalms when I read the bible in my late teens. It could be because I am journeying through the audio this time, but I just didn't care for it as much as other Old Testament works.Maybe if I had tried to go through reading the text itself in physical form

The most beautiful artwork illustrating the Psalms of David. A man illustrated them for his wife while he was serving in the military. He missed her greatly and wanted to leave her a gift if he happened to be killed in combat. I love, love, love this and read it often.

I really enjoyed how the Chronological Bible reading interspersed the Psalms throughout the other books. I really highlighted the various authors and time periods of the different Psalms. And also it helped highlight individual Psalms versus the entire book as a whole.(ebook with kindle dictation)

From The Canadian Journal of Orthodox Christianity Volume IX, Number 1, Winter 2014The Psalms of David, Translated from the Septuagint Greek by Donald Sheehan, Eugene, Oregon: Wipf & Stock, 2013. ISBN 978-1-62032-5100By Dn. Lasha TchantouridzéNo other Biblical text has received more attention in history than the Book of Psalms. It may well be that no other text in history has been interpreted, quoted, translated, and commented upon as much. Called tehillim, the Praises, in the Hebrew

I'm not sure why I took so long to finish reading the Psalms, but maybe it's because the beauty of poetry requires time and focus to be appreciated. Ancient Hebrew poetry is lovely, even when translated into English. Rhyming thoughts and unique expressions create poetic emotion in English. I do wish I could read the Acrostic Psalms (e.g. Psalm 119) in the original Hebrew. I can't fully appreciate the special effort put into them or notice the beautiful symmetry. The five books of Psalms
