This was a good and easy book, but not really for my age. It's really set for pre-teen to sixteen years of age. Great storyline, I just felt it lacked something, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe depth? I don't know... I also felt that the author kind of started rushing through the storyline about halfway through but that could just be me. If you want a book with a good story but not enough details or depth, and something very quick to read, get this book.Some years after a war between humans and faeries devastated both worlds and left ours infected by strange and dangerous magics, Liza discovers that she's developing magic of her own. While a bit predictable, Bones of Faerie establishes a fascinating post-apocalyptic setting in the aftermath of a devastating war against faeries. The book is young adult and deals with heady issues of abuse, survival, and loss, all through the eyes of an easy-to-relate-to heroine.
Liza is such a strong character, so kind and caring and passionate.But above all else she is majorly self-sacrificing, which is a wonderful point for young girls to take away from the book. Allie, the young, sweet healer, is a reliable friend and a deeply caring individual filled with unconditional love. Yet, she's smart and knows her limits. Update 04/10/19: I was just looking through the books Ive read and I stumbled upon Tithe by Holly Black, which I gave 3 stars. Holly Black???? I STILL think about Tithe. At the end of it all, I really did enjoy this book, but it was lacking quite a bit and that really couldve brought it up to the next level (especially considering this is ya?!!) 3 stars it is. -Trigger warning, abusive parent.
